Which is more secure, a password or fingerprint lock on an Android phone?
In the United States a password is much more secure than a fingerprint. Passwords are protected under the fifth amendment to the US Constitution, fingerprints are not. The police can force you to fingerprint unlock a phone but they cannot force you to divulge a password.
Police can force you to unlock your phone
They need a warrant to search your things (unless you are a felon or certain things like that)
Face ID And fingerprints are both currently usable by cops, if you think you might deal with the police (protests or w/e)
Switch your settings to require an input code instead, when you are back to normal life you can turn the face/ fingerprint login back on.
There is apparently no way to find the password.

Well if you want to unlock it then this might work in certain situations
If u r using a 3rd party app locker and if the settings is not locked then you can go into settings>apps locate the app locker and clear it’s data.. (Although in most cases u will still need a password to clear the data) .
You can perform a factory reset from recovery mode but that’s of no use as u’ll loose all data..
There u have to locate the directory where the passwords are saved for the app lock and delete it by giving it r &w permission.. But this process won’t work if u r using a 3rd party app lock.
Is the fingerprint lock of a smartphone more secure than a password?
It is also much quicker and easier to use than having to type in your password/pin each time. It is also useful as some phones allow you to store a few different fingerprints instead of just one.
Passwords/pins have been one of the securest ways of accessing phones for a long time. It takes 10,000 possible combinations to break into a 4-digit code, by that time your phone would most definitely lock itself for good to prevent any security issues. They are also useful as you are the only person who knows it and it is really hard to break into. The downsides are that overlooking people could easily find out your pin by looking over your shoulder. A password is much more difficult as it is usually a more personal word etc. Another downside is that you could forget your pin and therefore have no access to your device.
Overall I personally use Face ID and a pin as a backup for my iPhone X.
The reason for having a backup security feature is because from my personal experience a few years ago whilst owning a Samsung S6 for some reason the fingerprint completely stopped working however I was lucky enough to have a backup pin to unlock my device.

Why are your fingerprints unique?
There is a substantial degree of genetic influence on one’s fingerprints, particularly whether a given finger has which of the three basic patters—loop, arch, or whorl. One can have all three of these types among the ten fingers. The Scientific American article cited at bottom describes what determines which of these three basic patterns a finger will develop, having to do with the genetically influenced timing of fetal development of the fleshy volar pads on the fingertips.
However, the fine details that make each person unique, called the minutiae of the fingerprints, are not hereditary. Even monozygotic (supposedly identical) twins don’t have identical fingerprints. The minutiae arise randomly in the developing fetus, at least partially as an effect of surfaces the fetus touches while its skin is developing. They arise especially between weeks 10 and 15, so they’re established by birth and don’t change significantly after that.
Abundant sweat glands open by pores along these ridges. The oil of a fingerprint comes not from the sweat, but from other surfaces one has touched such as the facial skin and hair. Freshly washed hands leave less conspicuous or detectable fingerprints—but I wouldn’t advise safe crackers and home burglars to rely on that strategy alone for leaving no evidence.
One is an anti-slip function.
It’s not just a passive effect of absorbing water, but an adaptive neural response.
A second function of friction ridges is tactile sensitivity. These are relatively large (1–2 mm long), with a single sensory dendrite wrapped in layers of fibroblasts and Schwann cells. When you drag your fingertips across a surface, the friction ridges alternately drag and slip. That creates vibrations that stimulate these lamellar corpuscles more effectively.
